The upgraded battery will be installed behind the front trunk, replacing the onboard charger. One of the advantages of this upgrade for the 2020 Taycan model is the possibility to enable Plug and Charge as long as you have a valid My Porsche account.

Charging time from 0% to 100% for Performance Battery equipped vehicles will be 4.8 hours at 19.2 kW, a substantial drop over the previous charger’s charging time of 9.5 hours. The new 19.2 kW module will allow cars equipped with the Performance Battery plus to charge from 0 to 100% in only 5.3 hours, about half the time it presently takes.

Your Porsche service shop can order and install the kit (part number 9J1.044.900.31), which retails for $1,850.15, into all Taycan models. The labor period is approximately 12 hours, and new and prospective Taycan owners can easily add the larger capacity onboard chargers to their builds by selecting the KB4 option in the configurator.
