The 2023 Porsche Rennsport Reunion

June 23rd, 2022 by

Five years after the last Porsche Rennsport Reunion at Laguna Seca in Monterey, California, Porsche has just announced that another reunion will finally take place in 2023. The exact date and location remain to be confirmed. In September 2018, nearly 81,500 people attended the last Porsche fan convention inclusive of 2,500 exotic cars, including the 959 Dakar, the RS Spyder, the 356 Speedster, and the 919 Hybrid.

The 2023 Porsche Rennsport Reunion will be an event that invites Porsche owners from all over the USA and even abroad. The event features an extraordinary gathering of all types of Porsche cars from current race cars to antique and vintage vehicles. The three-day Porsche fan convention is marked by exotic food, fun races, demonstrations, sharing stories about past Porsche races, and just having a great time.

The idea of the Porsche Rennsport Reunion was conceived by racing great Brian Redman and PR General Manager of Porsche, Bob Carlson in 2001. The key reason for the gathering was to celebrate the brand and create a racing heritage of Porsche. The two pioneers envisioned an event where Porsche owners, enthusiasts, and drivers could gather, celebrate racing, and pay tribute to the people who have helped make the Porsche brand what it is today. There is a theme for each reunion so that the fans know what to expect.

Since the first inaugural event at Lime Rock Park in Connecticut in 2002, the Porsche fan convention has continued to grow, drawing in thousands of fans every time the event is held.  The Rennsports Reunion used to be held every three years but because of the Covid pandemic, the previous event was canceled. The first three reunions were held on the East Coast, with the first event being held at Lime Rock Park. Following the first event, the next two reunions were held at Daytona International Speedway, Daytona, Florida (2004 and 2007).

In 2011, Rennsport Reunion IV moved to the West Coast. The last three Rennsports reunions have been held at Laguna Seca, Monterey, California (2011, 2015, and 2018). Some of the Porsche vehicles that showed up at the 2018 event included the RS Spyder, 356 Speedster, 959 Dakar, and 919 Hybrid.

Porsche has tried to maintain a community spirit by holding the Porsche fan convention, which has also helped build a huge fan base. The 2023 Porsche Rennsport Reunion will be a one-of-a-kind experience that celebrates the brand and lasts for three days.

Said Kjell Gruner, President and CEO of Porsche Cars North America, “We’re all excited to be able to announce the return of the Rennsport Reunion, which is always a highlight of Porsche motorsports enthusiasm and heritage. Rennsport Reunion has grown quickly over the years into a truly one-of-a-kind experience of sight, sound, and emotions. For a few days, it feels like everyone thrilled by the brand is united in one place, on and off the track, as one Porsche family.” He added, “We’ll announce the date and location soon, but this much I can share already: our ambition is to make Rennsport Reunion VII the best one yet.”

The most recent estimate is that the 2023 Porsche Rennsport Reunion will be held at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca from September 28 to October 1, 2023. To learn more about Porsche cars, visit Braman Motorcars or call them at 1-561-926-9141.
